Secret #3: A confident woman is positive
Questions to ponder:
- Fear is the dark room where all of your negatives are developed, so why not look at the brighter side of life?
- Why not believe something good is going to happen to you?
- What is wrong with looking at the sun instead of the clouds?
- What is wrong with seeing the glass half full instead of half empty?
Reflections:
In the past, i used to be a positive person and would always always choose to believe in the good things. However, along the way, i realised that many of the things i hoped for never seem to come to pass and sometimes people laugh at me for being optimistic. Thus, i gradually catch on the negative spirit and the fear of being disappointed, the fear of being silly, the fear of being judged and mocked by people took over and i started to be more and more negative towards things and life. Instead of thinking the best of people, situations and things, i started to think the worst. Once a tinge of negativity seeped in, i couldnt stop it anymore, the negativity just grew and manifested completely in my mind and heart and it was so hard for me to see hope in people, situations and in my own life. I often find myself dwelling in unhappy thoughts and most of them were untrue. But to me, painting every sad and bad picture was 'comforting' cause if something good really happened, i would be surprised and happy. But if nothing good comes out from it, then i wont be disappointed because in the first place i wasnt very hopeful towards those things.
Consequences of negativity:
- Confidence does not go with negativity and being negative opened the door for alot of problems and disappointments, which in turn fueled up our negativity.
- It affects the way you respond to things and we see ourselves having problems relating with people, trusting people and even having sincere and healthy relationships with people.
- It affects the way you handle things: you find yourself approaching things half-hearted and not doing your best (many times, you wont even realised it)
- It affects you emotionally: you feel sad, discouraged, demoralised most of the time.
- It affects the people around you: People find it hard to be around you and you end up feeling rejected.
Conclusion:
- It is about perspectives of seeing things and situations around you. Perspectives can affect the way you respond to things and also the people around you. The truth is that: positive thinking can change your current reality because God is positive and He is hope.
- Rom 8:28 and 1 cor 13:7 (love these 2 verses, God has personally spoke to me with these 2 verses and helped me to tide through the period of negativity and helped me see what life with hope is like)
WAKE UP:
Thinking negatively makes you MISERABLE! So STOP IT! Why be miserable when you can be happy? Take captive of your thoughts and bring them to God. Remember that the Word of God (Love letters from God) is our only truth in life, so match your thoughts with it.
